Welcome to Leichhardt House a "Home away from Home".

Leichhardt House Student Hostel (Located 280 Km West of Brisbane on the Darling Downs) offers weekly boarding for upto 36 students (Years 7-12). Students arrive at the Hostel after school on Monday and then return home after school on Friday. Our modern facility enables the opportunity for children [otherwise unable, due to distance] from throughout the Western Downs region, and outlying areas, to undertake programs at the reputable Chinchilla State High School.

In cases where the student is classified as ‘isolated’, Centrelink assistance covers all accommodation costs - meaning minimal out of pocket expenses for families (Call Centrelink on 132 318 for detailed information/advice). In terms of enrolment, the Hostel is not limited geographically and we can accept boarders from throughout regional Australia.

We firmly believe that our facilities and service provision are on par with most independent boarding schools, and that we provide an exteremely cost effective alternative for children otherwise required to move to urban areas to pursue their education.
